Workshop Description

7 week workshop With Kana Ogawa Ages 18+ Join us for a transformative 7-weekend Kintsugi course, where you’ll learn the timeless Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. More than just a technique, Kintsugi is a celebration of renewal—honoring the history of each piece while turning it into something even more meaningful. In this class, you’ll gain hands-on experience using traditional materials, developing both skill and appreciation for this centuries-old craft. Whether you’re drawn to Kintsugi for its artistry, cultural significance, or simply interested in the process, this immersive course will leave you with not only a one-of-a-kind piece of art but also a deeper connection to the philosophy behind it. What to Expect: ✔ Step-by-step guidance – Learn how to mend pottery using real urushi lacquer and gold powder. ✔ Hands-on practice – Bring your own broken piece (cup or plate size), or we’ll provide one for you. ✔ Material education – Understand the purpose and use of each Kintsugi tool and material. ✔ Small class size – Get personalized instruction and support throughout the process. 🔹 Kintsugi kit not included in course fee – You’ll purchase your own kit on the first day of class. ($75) 🔹 Choosing your piece – Size Limit: cup or plate size (approximately no larger than 10 inches in any dimension) We recommend bringing a broken item that isn’t too precious for your first practice, so you can enjoy the learning process without worry.
